Laff-if-Off 2025 Season Extended

People have three more chances to attend this year’s season of The Barbados Public Workers Cooperative Credit Union Limited Laff-it-Off.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary this year under the theme Nuh Name! Nuh Blame! Nuh Lockup! executive producer Ian Estwick said the decision to add three shows in March is a direct response to the demand from the public which has been flocking to the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre to get their fill of laughter.

“Before the show opened on January 25, we intended to have six shows for this 40th anniversary edition with March 1st being the last one. However, after the overwhelming response resulted in three consecutive sold out shows on February 15th and 22 and March 1st with the tickets going early in the week, we decided to extend the schedule by adding shows on March 8th, 15th, and 22nd.

“The last one will be our absolutely final show for this season. If you haven’t attended Laff-it-Off yet and you intend to do so, I recommend buying your tickets early so you’re in with a chance and you wouldn’t be disappointed.

“This is a special year for us, it’s our milestone 40th anniversary, and to have the public respond the way they have been is testimony to the high standards we set ourselves years ago. Patrons can join us at the Nook & Cranny Bar and see for themselves what everyone else has been talking about,” said Estwick.

This year’s show, Barbados’ longest running consecutive theatrical production, examines what’s happening on the political scene, poor customer service, crime, the US immigration policies, and financial schemes with humour and satire.

The executive producer thanked each member of the Laff-it-Off team for their hard work and dedication to ensuring its success not only this year, but every year.

“What some people may not realise is preparation for production starts around September each year. The musical director Lowrey Worrell and stage manager Shakera Williams also get involved early. The director Angelo Lascelles, who is also in the cast, the show’s artistic director Cecily Spencer-Cross, and the cast started rehearsing from October last year in preparing for the January opening.

“As you know adjustments are made to the script as the season progresses and situations develop in the country. Yes, generally it remains the same, but scenes are dropped or added, and others may be tweaked to keep it current. Sometimes the cast learns an entirely new scene before we open because we want to include something that came up which might be topical and people will laugh off,” he stated.

Estwick thanked the sponsors for their support and noted that without it, the show would not be the success it is.
